From viral Tik Tok single “Smile” to leading the resurgence of interest in Lofi hip-hop, it is no lie that kid Ben Beal is on a mission to become a legend. Coming off of an impressive 2019, the 22-year-old lyricist kept his momentum going by releasing Don’t Feed the Birds in February of this year – a 2-song EP that served as an introduction to his full-length album Birdland that dropped just two months later. Since the release of Birdland, Beal has continued to drop heat, with his most recent single being “Action Figures”.

Produced by SwuM, Gregory Ross, and DummyFresh, “Action Figures” is a testament to how hard Ben Beal has been working on his craft and why he one of the hottest coming out of the New York scene. His lyricism has always been noteworthy but is unparalleled on this single. Painting vivid pictures of his life back home, Beal manages to add a sense of nostalgia on this track while he seamlessly plans for the future. Alongside Beal is Mick Jenkins on the hook to add an ethereal vibe to an already futuristic-sounding track

Ben Beal really snapped this year, making me even more excited for his future releases. His snippets on Instagram and Twitter are glimpses into his creative process and makes you feel as if you are in the room with him. As I have tuned into more than just a few of them, I can say that Ben Beal is a name you won’t forget any time soon.
