“Drippin” is the exciting lead single off of hyperpop princess diana starshine’s debut record, Fairy Pop. One half of Digifae, a collaborative effort with fellow electronic artist Galen Tipton, starshine brings a fresh face to a genre teetering on over saturation. On “drippin’,” the Bay Area-based musician gives listeners a bright, ethereal summer bop.

“Drippin’ from your bottle/Tell me it’s my last chance/Even underwater I think about that romance,” she sings. Layered vocals mingle with a delicious round of synths, bouncing in and out of slower, romantic pacing and into a high energy dance jam. The song is a masterclass in pop production, building out starshine’s futuristic, candy-coated soundscape.

On its bridge, the track dissolves into a cacophony of splattery, bubbly sounds. It’s a full body liquid experience that tingles the ears with a twinge of ASMR and a heavy dose of infectious dance pop. The high level production is crystal clear as it floats the listener through starshine’s ode to lost love. “Drippin” is summer in a bottle with a tinge of heartache.

If “drippin” is anything to go by, diana starshine may very well be the savior 2023’s hyperpop scene needs.
