DWLLRS’ new single “Fiction” is an Emotional Rollercoaster

San Clemente natives Bren Eissman and Joey Spurgeon join forces to compose indie duo DWLLRS. Eissman and Spurgeon met in their first year of college as roommates and their friendship grew as they bonded over music. The rising duo’s sound combines Indie and Alt-Pop to create worlds of sonic exploration and captivation.

The duo recently released their single “Fiction,” an authentic rollercoaster of emotions featuring soft vocals and peaceful harmonies. The instrumental fluctuates between moments of aggression and peace — a feeling of calmness ensuing once the bright and flowy melody chimes in. The lyrics imply feelings of self-realization and growth, following a similar pattern of past singles. The cover art perfectly depicts the vulnerability behind this single, the idea of being brightened by what is ahead while trying to solve issues living in the shadows of your thoughts.

There is never a dull moment with DWLLRS as their sound ranges from concepts of nostalgia and dreaminess in songs like “And Then We’ll Be Alright” to emotion and vulnerability in songs like “Fiction.” To get a proper representation of the DWLLRS inspirations, check out their Instagram reels @wearedwllrs.
