Falling in "Cold Waters" for Hong Kong Boyfriend

It seems like this year Ourros has made a huge statement with their artist roster. The success of Contradash, Sally Boy, and Joe Avio are just to name a few and all have uniquely caught the music industry’s attention. Lucky enough there is a fourth newcomer on the Ourros roster who since released his single on the “Quadio” platform in early January caught my attention instantly. It’s been an eager seven months and I’m happy to introduce Mountain View’s Hong Kong Boyfriend with his debut single “Cold Waters.”
First hearing his music through word of mouth and via “Quadio”, Hong Kong Boyfriend has been one of Sparky’s favorite artists for a minute. His single he posted produced by Jhune on the college music platform over half a year ago was what grabbed our interests. His blend of pop and hip hop may seem very common but what gravitates fans is his irresistible vocal dynamics. HKBF’s use of vocal harmonies and talents of switching melodies make his songs special and so catchy. It feels as the more you listen to his music, it keeps getting better and better making it inevitable to not listen. Meeting the Ourros team (Sean Lewow, Chris Begler, John Vanliere, Nick Sully) and Aamir Khuller while studying at USC, it seems as this creative circle has an incredible ear with finding talent.
Officially releasing his debut single today called “Cold Waters”, HKBF introduces newcomers on what talents the 21 year - old possesses. Filled with ambient and soulful production, “Cold Waters” evidently displays the gratifying vocals and lyricism that we first heard on his single posted on Quadio. Although “Cold Waters” hits on a more emotional demeanor, this seems like a small tease on what is yet to come for Hong Kong Boyfriend.
It’s been a long time coming, but it would be no surprise that Hong Kong Boyfriend catches the attention of the music industry like the rest of Ourros’ roster. The team based out of California has hit the mark with finding talents based in Cali and it’s about time they get the recognition they deserve. I’m excited to see what’s next for HKBF, but for now, it’s time to fall for Hong Kong Boyfriend in these “Cold Waters.”
