Jordan Ward Has a Lil Baby Crush

Heatwaves come and go, but this one has been hitting different as of late. Although it may be easy to point fingers at global warming, the true culprit behind the fervor is Jordan Ward’s new single. Lil Baby Crush” is the newest release from the St. Louis MC and quickly surpassed all previous expectations. The immediate disco influence in the single almost made me do a double take on the first listen. While utilizing the sounds of previous generations, Jordan Ward has found a way to tap into vintage memories with his new wave single.

“Lil Baby Crush” comes two years after Ward’s last installment, “Valley Hopefuls” - an LP that is filled with amazing deep cuts like “Slide” and “Photo.” In comparison to his other releases, this new single feels like he took a step in a new direction and it couldn’t have gone any better. The production includes a new bounce and maintains an upbeat rhythm carried by the percussion. His soft voice and layered vocals on the chorus leave you daydreaming about a crush you may of never had! Aside from the jokes, the song evokes serious emotion and leaves you with a smile in the short span of 2 minutes and 22 seconds.

The record also came with a fire music video that features Ward in multiple locations, with the most memorable being at a house party that breaks out into a flash mob. The details in the video alone are extremely clean and made the wait between release all the more worth it. Be sure to check out “Lil Baby Crush” and keep an eye out for Jordan Ward, as this won’t be the last you hear of him.
