Let L.ucas Be Your Guide to Self Realization on New Track “Chorus”

Immerse yourself in a surreal soundscape where artist, producer, and engineer L.ucas unveils a fusion of emotive vocals, stabbing chords, and infectious synth melodies in his newest single, “Chorus,” that transport his listeners to a realm where uncertainty meets introspection. Completely self-taught, Lucas DeLisle—better known by his alias l.ucas—draws inspiration for his work from a resonant blend of “internalized emotions, life experiences, and overthinking hypothetical situations.” This signature medley manifests itself in DeLisle’s freshest release, “Chorus,” a piece speaking on chronic uncertainty. How exactly, DeLisle wonders, do we move through the cloud of confusion that fogs our vision and makes us hesitant to choose a path?

Right from its opening notes, "Chorus" ensnares its audience in a captivating web of sound. The synth-based instrumentals create a pulsating and repetitive rhythm, akin to an alarm that seizes one’s attention. The stabbing chords punctuate the composition, injecting a sense of urgency and drama as DeLisle’s speaker edging tentatively through life. DeLisle’s mastery over the electronic elements is evident, as he weaves together a tapestry of sounds that transport the audience into an otherworldly experience. I found myself likening “Chorus” to pieces by The Chainsmokers and resonating with the familiar energy and infectious melodies that permeate the track.

DeLisle’s vocals glide delicately across the sonic landscape; intimacy is the core of his delivery as he whispers his introspective musings, inviting his listeners to delve deeper into their own emotions. His hushed tones draw you closer, as if confiding secrets of the universe with a trusted confidante. DeLisle’s choice of a softer vocal register enhances the song's vulnerability, creating an intimate connection between himself and his audience.

Though the production of the track feels vaguely alien with the repetitive synths and hypnotic tones, the lyrics couldn’t be more human. DeLisle’s goal is to encourage his listeners to both look within and outside of themselves as they progress through what he dubs their “metamorphosis,” within whose process we can find priorities and people drastically shifting. As he says in the track, he feels that he is “Looking for the means/Never finding the meaning,” a familiar sentiment to anyone feeling lost on their life path. However, DeLisle shows us the light at the end of the tunnel, that everyone feels lost sometimes, and invites his audience to “Hold [his] hand/And we’ll go together.”
