Lil Moe is On Go

Chicago is well known for breeding very young rappers. At just fifteen years old, Lil Moe is showing the Windy City that he’s got what it takes. This past week, the music video for his “6Blocka” has been trending up- and for good reason. Famed Chicago videographer, Billy Kauck, shot the visual which features Moe in a crowded house, guns on display, and lasers lighting up the room. Moe has a high pitched raspy voice that gives off an erie, dangerous vibe. Perhaps the coolest element of his style is his flow. The opening bars of the song start slow and arrogant but when the snare picks up, Moe’s flow speeds up and slides effortlessly over the beat. Undeniably a drill song, the lyrics are filled with threats and ominous messages to enemies. Unlike many drill songs, “6Blocka” is actually very catchy and danceable.

Prior to the release of “6Blocka” Lil Moe was a very lowkey figure. The only traces of his music career before last week were a few loose snippets. As of now, Moe remains somewhat mysterious. Other than a few instagram live snippets on YouTube, there is not too much information out there about him. He may not have been known for music, but people in his city still knew his name. He is closely affiliated with Rooga, a quintessential figure in the Chicago music scene. This is a promising detail, as a collaboration between these two in the future would be explosive. Personally, I’m definitely looking forward to new music from Moe. Check out the video for “6Blocka” above!
