Sahn is Ready for "the mornings"

Vallejo-born alt r&b singer, sahn, enters the stage with a captivating, nine-track debut album. It is a body of work that aims to heal, empower, and leave no stone unturned. This is one you cannot miss.

“CHAD’S PRAYER”

This opener includes a somber trumpet and toneful bass to support. It is somewhat lonesome and proud, ending with a note flying high. It is the musical release of her late husband’s soul.

“Angelsxdemons”

In the second track, the trumpet calls for attention. sahn’s spacious vocals invite a flourishing tension, pulling us between action and inaction. There are always two sides to a coin, and she is unafraid to explore them both.

“Wake up, my love (a lullaby)”

Perfect intervals from the bass underline sahn’s call for her lover to join her in the conscious world. It is a beautiful day, and she desires company to experience it all. She waits for her love who has let the calmness of the night hold them close.

“The mornings”

The tone of an incoming call and a lone drum describes sahn’s regimen “to mourn a life that was, and shall not be again”. It is subtle, yet striking. This is her daily rallying call. There are no more messages left to be interpreted.

“High speed meditation”

A nod-heavy, cunning, ear-opener dripping in words sung in cursive. Sahn shows off her dazzling range as she switches from one effortless verse to the other. Production compliments each note as she shows them “who the boss is”.

“Better with you”

In a moderate tempo, the song introduces itself with an echo of sahn’s ethereal background calls. The electric guitar understands the message sahn means to deliver. She leaves nothing on the table as she explains how things are “better with you”. She balances “living for the present / working for the future / dreaming of the past” in a space without the one person who makes it all worth it.

“Gracenotes”

A funky, bass heavy track demonstrating sahn’s blues, motown and funk influences mixed with her own unique blueprint. Sahn’s voice is a showstopper. She recognizes how much she’s grown and all that she's unequivocally ready to face any incoming challenges. Although she begins with “If there’s a price I’ve surely paid it”, she concludes with “ready for you / ready for love”. If that’s not the sound of a healed heart, I don’t know what is.

“Strong friends, live from the backyard”
A live, uncut call for us to check on those who aren’t always the most vocal about their insecurities or internal battles. The emotion is refreshing, sahn knows that they are hurting and will be there as a towering pillar of strength when needed most.

“Green tea”

Things are looking different in sahn’s eyes. There’s an immense part of her life that is no longer there. Like green tea, this song can mend the strongest flus, warm the coldest hearts and connect the farthest souls. She realizes that “you changed me for the better”. It is a bittersweet beginning of the end.
