Toronto born and Belleville raised alt-pop / r&b singer, UNA MIA, debuted her new single on the Berlin musical platform COLORS last month.  It was there that the world witnessed just how entrancing MIA could be.

With serene production, the artist steps into the song in an effortless blur. Her vocals melt into the weightless guitar and heart pounding beat.

She sings of hoping for her lover to take the wheel. Being so scared that they’d leave her that it seems like she’s fumbling around in the darkness looking for the light.  MIA waits for her lover to tell her they’ll be okay. It is up to them to make that decision, ultimately shaping her sanity in the process.

The more she clings on, the farther they pull.

This person is not someone MIA can confide in. She has also not yet found her own voice, pushing her deeper into dismay. Her hesitation and their tendency of flight has silenced her.

With each chorus, her voice seems to sway and sail further adrift. She is on the path to losing not only her lover, but most importantly herself in the process. The track ends with her vocals atop the delicate guitar. MIA knows she cannot go on like this. But is she ready to take her first steps unattached from a connection that holds her back?

“Lose You” is available now on streaming platforms. I encourage you all to check out her performance on COLORS.
