What You Missed In PartyNextDoor's Return to Toronto

This concert was hosted by SiriusXM, to kick off the launch of their new hip-hop and R&B channel, Mixtape: North- and what better way to do it, than having Toronto’s very own PartyNextDoor headlining it. As fans lined up around the entire block, they buzzed with anticipation for a night filled with infectious beats, soulful melodies, and the electrifying energy that only PartyNextDoor himself could deliver. Captivating the crowd throughout the entire show, he showcased his remarkable vocal range, mixed with a signature blend of trap-infused beats played by his vigorous band.

From the first song to the last, he had everyone singing along, as they were transported to a world of musical enchantment. Hysteria erupted as he performed his hits such as “Break From Toronto,” which has garnered over 500 million streams on Spotify alone. The most unexpected song on his setlist was “Work” by Rihanna. It was originally his song that he wrote, but was later passed onto Rihanna, making it one of the biggest hits in her discography. However, his version was refreshing to hear, compared to Rihanna’s reggae-pop version that he also worked on. The show opened with LAVI$H, a hip-hop artist who was discovered by Chubbs from OVO, and later signed to Def Jam Recordings. Followed by Juno Award-Winning R&B singer, Savannah Ré. The opening set was then closed by the Grammy Award-Winning producer and writer, Boi-1da, known for producing hits such as; “God’s Plan” by Drake, “Mafia” by Travis Scott, “Wolves” by Kanye West, and many more. These incredible Canadian artists established the tone perfectly for PartyNextDoor’s set.

The friends that PartyNextDoor brought out were dvsn, Majid Jordan, Roy Woods, Smiley, and Baka Not Nice, who all turned this show into a mini OVO Fest- with Drake at the end as the icing on the cake. Drake entered the stage singing his part on Recognize alongside PartyNextDoor, which fired up the entire venue. Not only did Drake plead PartyNextDoor to “come home more” on our behalf, but also gave him his flowers with a heartwarming speech, “I am so grateful for you, I would not be the artist I am today if it wasn’t for you. This is really my favourite artist in the world.” The show was wrapped with Come and See Me featuring Drake, which generated over 540 million streams on Spotify. While Drake performed his part, he freestyled, “I’m going on tour, Party dropping PND4”, confirming the release of PartyNextDoor’s upcoming 5th studio album. He also gave his seal of approval by stating, “I heard the new album, it’s one of those summers.”

Taking his fans on a roller coaster of emotions at the venue History, it was truly a historic night for the music scene in Toronto. PartyNextDoor and his friends left everyone in such an awe that they were disoriented returning to their own lives after the concert, leaving everyone to yearn for more. Beyond the music, the concert was a celebration of artistry, unity, and the profound impact that live music can have on our lives. For those who were lucky enough to be in attendance, the experience will be cherished as a testament to the power of music and the immense talent of PartyNextDoor. Join us as we await his upcoming album, and future shows by him.
