CMMND’s “summer21” Aesthetic Is Unmatched

After dropping their second EP, 2, in April, CMMND is back with a music video for their song “summer21.” The collective stays giving us all the vibes we need.

First off, “summer21” embodies the carefree spirit of the season on its own. It has this retro, nostalgic feel that comes with all the memories made during the summer. The track was also the opener for 2 and, inherently, the perfect song to introduce you to the collective and individual personalities of the group.

The music video, starring seiji oda, okay coleman!, sleepyboybryan, and yvngcatt, debuted on The Yvngcatt Show to 1.5 million viewers, including Beyoncé. Their appearance stays true to the nostalgic feeling like a blast from the past. Dressed in iconic 70s apparel—sequins, shiny flare pants, and animal prints—this video couldn’t get any more immersive. CMMND creates a whole universe, literally. “summer21” is performed in space with their instruments, top-notch dance moves, and disco balls. The video closes out at a PTA meeting concert and a fire verse from a drunk principal. Honestly, it’s all self-explanatory.

According to CMMND’s new video, “summer21” is pretty much the greatest summer ever. So go give this masterpiece a view, and if you haven’t already, make sure to add “summer21” to your summer playlist.
