stoop lee never falls short of bringing flavor to his beats, and his latest release captures that quite well. “SWEETBABYRAE” is stoop’s second single of the year, and came at the perfect time for all of your summer barbecues. The Detroit artist, born Ade Olaniran, continues to blend hip-hop with elements of soul to create his own refreshing sound.

In his own words, stoop describes his music as the following: “Take your favorite Saturday morning cartoon, a bowl of your favorite cereal, add some dope beats and you’ve captured the nostalgic experience that is stoop lee.” I can say that his music surely lives up to this. “SWEETBABYRAE” is a culmination of tender love and humorous disappointment, and honest living.

“On and on you say, something about brunch on a Sunday, maraschino cherries in my sundaes, but my mind goes in my head cause I’m not really one for the gunplay.”

The beat is calm and somewhat mesmerizing, chopping and looping stoop’s smooth voice with a combination of soft drums. Stoop’s rapping and soft harmonies drift over the beat with ease, making it one of those songs you wouldn’t mind leaving on repeat for a while.

I really look forward to hearing more from stoop lee in the future, and hope that you take a listen to “SWEETBABYRAE” and the rest of his songs wherever you stream music.
