Sedona’s new single “Cupid’s Victim” could be the soundtrack to a lover’s rose-colored dream. The five-piece band from singer from Brooklyn, New York has crafted a luscious track made for easy listening and daydreaming. Fusing rock and electric pop, the powerful all-female quintet manages to harness the best of many worlds.

“Won’t you be mine?” asks a timid voice on the song’s intro, followed by funky, drawn-out instrumentals. A mix of guitar twang, exotic keyboard sounds, chimes, and many other layers combine to create a magical sonic daze that haunts the track. While the song is filled with lust and symbols of love, Sedona is able to maintain a feeling of lightness and flair. Think of Mazzy Star combined with the nostalgic emotion of The Cranberries. Lead singer Rachel Stewart’s voice is alluring and enticing, giving Sedona a unique, magical sound.

Sedona is comprised of Stewart, Merilyn Chang, Claire Gilb, Margaux Bouchegnies, and Tia Cestaro and has been releasing music since 2018. I look forward to hearing more from this powerful all-female quintet in the future and recommend giving the rest of their discography a listen.
