Listen to Wallice grapple with the universal race against time on her latest single “23.” In indie rock fashion, the Los Angeles singer-songwriter has crafted an anthem for a generation that’s so unsure of itself. In just under three minutes, she manages to emit all the emotions we share toward growing up and living like an adult.

The track, co-written and produced by Marinelli, bounces between reserved acoustic verses and an unapologetically brash chorus. Her voice is unique, one you’d be able to pick out while flipping through songs on the radio, and is able to project personal feelings. The combination of Wallice’s anthemic lyrics and emotional vocals is good, something you just can’t help but want to scream along to. Not to mention they’re relatable too—who doesn’t look forward to the future yet still wish for the chance to be young and free of responsibilities just one more time?

“I just can’t wait to be all grown up and 23, and tell me what is wrong with me, I miss my Ohio fake ID. Maybe I’ll get married soon and buy a house with three bedrooms, and settle down and get a dog and make my partner get a job.”

Her lyrics continue to be bravely honest. Wallice has been wearing her heart on her sleeve since the release of her debut single “Punching Bag,” a song that tells a story of hopeless longing and optimism, yet another thing that I’m sure we can all admit to feeling. I can’t wait to hear more from Wallice as she builds on her sounds and discography in the future. Be sure to check out “Punching Bag” and “23” and keep an ear out for new music.
