Exploring Chelsea Reject’s Latest “Bubble Girl”

An artist who I recently discovered via her latest album BUBBLE GIRL is New York-based hip-hop artist Chelsea Reject. Chelsea has been making music for some time, but within her recent work, we hear a more refined and meaningful sound. Chelsea’s music is rooted in her personal experiences and truth, the music is a form of expression. The story behind BUBBLE GIRL details Chelsea’s personal experiences as an introvert in her career and life.

One of my favorite things about this project are the production choices. You hear a particular style from artists heavily associated with storytelling, such as J. Cole, J.I.D, or Kenrick Lamar. Chelsea’s latest album has elements of this dynamic beat selection with many instrumentals, gentle moments that allow for her voice to be the focal point, and a sonic energy that evokes realism in her words. Chelsea also worked closely with a handful of featured artists on this project who pair nicely with both her sound and story.

Some of the top streaming tracks on this project are “Never Wait,” “Speechless,” and “Loud Pack (Freestyle.)” In both “Never Wait” and “Loud Pack (Freestyle)” we hear a more raw hip-hop sound, Chelsea is rapping quickly over traditional trap beats, still incorporating a dynamic twist of her own style. In “Speechless,” my personal favorite track of the three, Chelsea works with a more alternative beat. She’s more relaxed, playing with her tone to deliver a smooth captivating chorus. “Speechless” is a chilled-out track for when you’re cruising with the windows down, hanging with a few friends, or putting on some background tunes.

I love the authenticity of this tape it feels genuine. It’s a true expression of Chelsea Reject and an equally impressive display of talent. A few of these tracks were delivered with equally stellar visuals which I’d encourage watching while exploring the album. Chelsea has plenty of music to delve into, start with “BUBBLE GIRL” and keep digging if you like what you hear!
