Coming off a rewarding release from his debut single “Sunset Plaza”, Los Angeles based artist Mackenzie Morris has shown high promises in his musical career. Releasing his newest track “Why”, the Brit raised act displays a thrilling side to his music discography, intertwining his indie sound with the soulful grooves of alternative funk.

A co - production with Lucca Dohr and Simon John, “Why” is that summer tune we all needed. A switch up from the slow and sincere mood swings of “Sunset Plaza”, the track is an idealistic version of how we want to plan our midsummer days. Whether it may be laying by the pool on a glorious sunny day or entertaining ourselves with a companion(s) we truly find pleasure around, this track is what we all need.

Layered with wistful harmonies and the a rhythmic guitar based instrumental, “Why” feels like it was meant to be recorded in the 70’s/80’s. The LA based artist's iridescent melodies paired with his engaging lyrics are top notch, fitting the mood to an already cheering track. Singing “she tells that she fumbles her words/she tells me that she’s no good for talking/but if she said what I think I heard/that’ll be the reason I’m walking”, Morris has a powerful tool in songwriting, where his melodies are expressive and relatable. Mackenzie’s vocal progressions are beyond admirable, as he finds a way to flow with the track seamlessly and effectively.

With an ability to visually and sonically attract fans to his music, Mackenzie Morris has once again captivated our attention with his art. Continually gaining the attention of the music industry, this multi - talented creative is bound to be on everyone’s playlist sooner or later.
