"My Madonna" is an Impressive Standout off Zuli Jr.’s Latest Album

New York based singer-songwriter Zuli Jr has built a world within his projects and his latest release is no exception. Stop it God, his second full length album, which was released in May via Nurtured Ideas, is full of conceptual nuance and sonic experimentation. “My Madonna”, the tenth of twelve songs on the project, is a harmonious melting pot that represents the album in all facets.

The emotion of the song is evident right from the jump, as the intro immediately portrays the intense remorse that can be expected throughout the track.

“I'll never understand / No I won't even try / The blood is on my hands / But I haven't paid the price / Show me how to be a better man / In a ruined paradise”

The remainder of the song follows suit with the emotions promised in the intro, establishing a song that can be related to on many levels.

Gentle production from Zuli Jr, Aite Atlantica, and TK the Architect provides a gentle soundscape for the well paced build of the song. Well timed valleys in the music offer opportunities for Zuli’s vocals to shine through, and Blonde-esque vocal modulations decorate the song as pseudo ad-libs.

My Madonna is just one of the numerous standouts on Zuli Jr.'s newly released project, which includes unique songs to match any vibe needed. Be sure to check out the rest of the album and stay on the lookout for any of his upcoming releases.
