Alex Oren: In a League of his Own

When I first heard Alex Oren’s voice, I immediately thought of artists like Juice WRLD, Souly Had, and The Kid LAROI. The St. Louis native brings a creative, passionate, and introspective take on RnB which is purely unique to his sound. Alex has been releasing music for over four years now, and turning the page towards a rising star. He looks to build off of a very successful 2021 with his single “Monday Dec 14th” that has amassed over 30,000 streams on Spotify alone and his EP 1-800-not-the1 which has also had very high success. While producing, mixing, and mastering his own material, Alex has made a name within the music industry working for other rising stars like Lani Rose. If you haven’t heard of Alex Oren, yet I would suggest you join the bandwagon.

The power and grit behind his voice lured me into his lyricism in the single “proud of me.” The start of this song provides a modern take on RnB with heavy 808’s and trap-influenced drums similar to Tory Lanez. Although the track is short (2:06), its replay value is unmatched with Alex’s catchy hook bookending the song. “I’ve seen it all so I done got a lot to live with I… No I got nothing to live with I…”; I had the chance to ask Alex to tell us more about the song.

He said, “I created this song after feeling underappreciated and unacknowledged for my creativity and musical abilities.”

I personally love this message because anyone in any industry can take this track and apply it to their own experiences, making it extremely relatable for new fans and giving it replay value. Alex’s work is not going unnoticed, with placements on top Spotify editorial playlists like Fresh Finds, Lyrical Lemonade, and Shoutout L.A.. Alex’s 2023 looks to be even better than 2022, with the hope of a breakout single and/or LP.

Outside of his artistry career, Alex has also created a name for himself within the music industry in VFX/3D video rendering, working with A-List artists such as Chris Brown and G-Herbo. His most recent work has been with Chris Brown and Fivio Foreign on their most recent collaboration C.A.B (Catch a Body). Alex’s creativity is one of the most versatile in this industry with him being able to tap into three different career paths and being successful within all.
