Atlanta based artist S.U.R.F. brings sounds from faraway worlds into your ears. With his upcoming tape showcasing a dystopian, spacey sonic dimension, what better way to get things started than YouTube exclusive “Interstellar”. If you’re not familiar with S.U.R.F. I can’t think of a more fitting way to describe him than his alternate ego Rage Angel.

His sound is raw and unique but his aura is surrounded with tranquility, delivering primarily hip-hop/rap tracks with a fast-paced, bar-for-bar, energetic flow. S.U.R.F knows how to put on a show; his live performances are always an experience to remember. Having the crowd controlled at the tip of his fingers, the artist is always ready to rage alongside his fans.

While his catalog is stacked with tracks matching the energy of influences such as Travis Scott and Trippie Redd, “Interstellar” lets us hear a new side of S.U.R.F.. Personally, I believe he’s tapped into a fresh new set of sounds without sounding uncomfortable. Eerie, melodic production matched with vocal harmonies and the alt-pop sound of S.U.R.F.’s voice creates a mood reminiscent of early Post Malone.

Lyrically, S.U.R.F. utilizes a variety of spacey vocabulary and metaphors to tell the story of a love interest. So hop inside this spaceship / And we’ll get lost in the stars like a constellation / Interstellar babygirl I want you”. “Interstellar” comes with a music video as well, one that emphasizes an artful, minimal aesthetic to match the music. It finds our protagonist submerged waist-down in a lake among the trees, in a forest of solitude. The color palette and film style has a vintage feel with earth tones that create melancholy while also grabbing the attention of the audience.

Setting the tone of what’s to come with his September tape Rage Angel, stay tuned for everything S.U.R.F. has on deck and start here!
