Clovis, California isn’t traditionally known as a musical hotbed, but BEL is emerging as a standout from the rural Golden State town. “Isn’t it Romantic” is the latest impressive offering from the singer-songwriter and it brings sunset at Coachella vibes, toeing the line between indie and baroque pop. Released as a single, it’s a song that can be turned on at any point and immediately catch everyone’s attention with a melody that will hook any listener.

Driving drums and guitars lay the foundation production wise. The song is cleverly written, and BEL reflects on the painful path to closure coming out of a relationship with relatable anecdotes about throwing away a t-shirt, bringing somebody different to a concert, and saying goodbye to her ex’s sister. The production ebbs and flows at a perfect pace, leaving a stripped back canvas for some of the most powerful lines.

BEL has only been on the scene for a little over a year, but expect to see her everywhere soon with more music of this quality. With five singles released so far, she has started to establish herself within the up and coming indie world, and I eagerly await her newest releases. If the rest of BEL’s upcoming Muscle Memory EP is on par with her singles thus far, it’s certainly worthy of anticipation.
