If you like a blend of R&B and Pop with an anti-romantic storytelling nature, I believe Serge Alex’s “MUST BE NICE, Pt 2” would be a wonderful addition to your favorite tracks. After exploring his full catalog Serge tends to deliver a more melodic vibe with most of his music, his production often contains elements of jazz which is a personal favorite style of mine. In terms of his subject matter, Serge often dabbles in the realm of romance. He discusses his feelings towards people and situations relating to relationships, sometimes bitter, but in a light-hearted manner.

In this particular track “MUST BE NICE, Pt 2” we are getting a full story laid out in front of us. Showcasing his absence of interest in someone’s love life and flourishing relationship. As a way to express his emotions and slight resentment towards this fairy tale-seeming love story. Lyrics / I don’t care about your boyfriend… / open up this track and sum up the nature of the message, a simple lack of care, and personal inability to relate to such a scenario.

Turning more toward the production of this track we can see that Serge Alex has certainly been influenced by his Caribbean roots and personal idols like Tems, Rihanna, and Davido. There is a lovely meld of instrumentation leading with a gentle guitar strum into a jazzy saxophone solo. The music is sophisticated, powerful, and honestly evokes the envious vibe that Serge is giving us directly through his lyrics. All of these musical elements come together to compliment his voice graciously and emphasize the emotion that went into this single.

Serge Alex is in the early stages of his career but there is so much potential already on display from not only this track but previous works as well. I’m excited to watch him grow into his element and continue telling his story through creative outlets and beautiful music. I encourage anyone reading to check out his latest track and explore his full catalog to find your favorite piece!
