If you’re not familiar with Nevi, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to this amazing young talent! He’s had some killer key tracks and moments thus far in his career. His single “Invoice” skyrocketed in 2020, followed by the release of his debut tape onourown. in 2021 containing one of his most successful pieces “How You Been” featuring KYLE. As we close out 2022, Nevi, After spending the past year locked in refining and focusing on his craft,  has graced us with “One Day.”

The focal theme in “One Day” is the duality of Nevi’s lifestyle as he transitions into a legitimate career in music. Having been raised in a small town in Texas, making music since he was 13 years old, he comes from humble and hustling roots. After putting in constant work until now, Nevi is signed to Blac Noize! and finds himself in the chaos and culture of the music industry. We see this displayed visually on the cover art, images of his split lives, as well as lyrically with, “I be in LA one day / next day back home with a nail and a hammer in my hand.”

Getting into the production and soundscape of this track immediately, the vibe is very nostalgic and dreamlike. The best way I can describe this is something you listen to when you’re locked in, it’s a track for the playlist you put on when you’re focusing on yourself and elevating your energy. It has the right ambiance of a go-to song for a drive to clear your mind, the Lo-fi Hip-Hop vibes are immaculate with a hook that’s catchy and motivational. The track is quick at two minutes and four seconds. It definitely has replay value, one of those songs you restart before it’s over because you don’t want to stop listening.

I’m excited to see what Nevi has next for us, I think this single is definitely setting the scene for bigger things to come. It’s important to acknowledge his age as he’s so young and has already created amazing songs that would complement the likes of Isaiah Rashad, Smino, or SoFaygo if placed on a playlist together. The potential here is tremendous, I encourage everyone to stream “One Day,” and also dive into his full catalog to find your favorites.
