BR Don't Miss: Top 5 Artists from Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Home of some of the biggest acts in the hip hop scene, Baton Rouge has had a plethora of talents blossoming into your favorite artists. From YoungBoy to Kevin Gates, Fredo Bang and not to mention P Yungin, the city has held high praises for over the past decade and continues to strive as one of America’s hottest cities for Hip - Hop. Since these artists have graduated from the title “upcoming artists”, we now look to see who are BR’s next acts to make a stance in the music scene. NOTE: The order of the list is in no particular order.

1. TrueBleeda

Known for his apparent melodic vocals and fetching lyrics, TrueBleeda is one of Baton Rouge’s most proficient artists when it comes to having an overall package ready for hip hop’s mainstream music. His polished sound can be seen in tracks such as “Play 4 Keeps” while he’s previously shown that he can prevail on any instrumental seen on tracks “Check my Jacket” or “Headlock”. Working alongside videographer HV3VISUALS, his visuals have been a strong addition to his brand and compliment his energy in every single video. Bleeda may be one of the youngest listed on our top five but I truly believe he is at a stage where his next bodies of work will transcend him to becoming a notable figure around the hip hop scene.

2. YKWIHF VEA

YKWIHF VEA is quite different in comparison to the five artists listed in this article. You’ve probably seen his name on YouTube in the past two years but you’ll be a fan after listening to his bodies of work. Releasing music channels such as LD Visuals, Rich Porter, and DylanVerdunTV, VEA has huge upside to his rap career. His distinctive vocal tone paired with the oh so prevalent Baton Rouge flow really are what makes him one of my personal favorites out of this group. On tracks such as “OPP PACK” you get a real grasp to his raw vocals while in “Spin Again” and “STAND ON BUSINESS” listeners get a sense of how efficient VEA is at making hard hitting rap music. Let’s put it this way, I can’t wait to see where he can take his music. He’s one of those artists that if paired on the right song will truly be in a league of his own and I cannot wait when that happens.

3. Lil Ivy Jr.

Man I remember finding Ivy Jr. when he released “Get It Done (Intro)” and it’s crazy how fast he’s truly grown. Lil Ivy Jr. has really stepped up his game since first discovering his music and it’s not a surprise the hip hop scene has caught on. With notable features teased by JayDaYoungan and artists such as Fredo Bang showing love, we would be oblivious to not feature Ivy Jr. on our top five. Personal favorite tracks include “Booked Fa Dat” which sounds like a Baton Rouge classic while “Insane” and “4/5” are others that grabbed my attention. Working with videographer Carlos Jr., these two will continue to make a name for themselves in the music scene so hop on that wave for real.

4. HD4President

If Boosie hopped on the remix, then you know HD4President most definitely has something going on for him. Exploding on Tik Tok in the most recent months, the BR native has created an international trend with his song “Can’t Stop Jiggn” and the industry has taken note of his success. On an overall viral scope, HD has really made a name for himself and he’s bound to hit a high trajectory at the rate he’s going at.

5. Dusa

Hailing from the Southside of Baton Rouge, Dusa has become one of the most consistent rappers coming from BR. Dropping notable tracks “Mama Cry”, “1st Day OUT Pt. 1”, and “Play For Keeps” on the TwooneShostThat platform, Dusa has really grown as an artist since returning home. His seamless melodies and potent instrumental choice are what has attracted his fanbase as he continues to grow as one of Baton Rouge’s next powerhouses.
