An Interview With Sheesh Media

First launched in 2019 by a pair of college buddies who wanted in on the music industry without having to sift through the lower annals of the music industry, Sheesh Media is a growing success story built on the backs of hard work and unorthodox, fresh ideas. Sparky sat down with Sheesh’s founders to talk about their conception, rise, and where they see the company going in the coming years.

How did Sheesh Media come to life?

Sheesh started in the summer of 2019 by Perry Avgerinos and Noah Schwartz! We were living in New York City at the time doing an internship and had the idea to start something of our own. We always said “Sheesh” when we were attending the University of Miami as undergraduate students so when we started brainstorming company names it was an easy choice for us. The whole intent at the very beginning was artist management and live music events, but we quickly realized that was a difficult entrance to the music industry. Management and events are still a primary focus of ours but in the early stages we shifted to doing media and providing as much value to artists as possible while gaining awareness for our brand. This was a great opportunity for us to help up and coming artists and make valuable connections along the way.

During COVID how did you guys keep the company going and maintain a positive mindset?

Covid obviously had a negative impact on a ton of companies, but we tried to remain positive and focus on the things that we could execute on. Both of us were located in different states, so it wasn’t easy at times, but Covid actually enabled us to do this full-time as we both decided to not pursue other jobs and take this to the next level.

Since moving out to Los Angeles at the beginning of 2022, how has your company changed?

Moving out to LA was always something that we knew we had to do for the best interest of the company, but it took a little bit longer than we originally thought. Noah was diagnosed with cancer in 2021 which is when we initially planned on moving out here. We had to put the move on hold until he was in the clear and healthy again.

So when we did get out here we knew it was go time and there were no excuses for us. A lot has changed with Sheesh as we’re now predominantly focused on original video content and live events on the media side of things. Business moves so much faster out here with a majority of the artists / business being here. We've really been able to accomplish a lot with a much quicker turnaround.

You guys recently launched your artist management company. Tell us more about that.

Yes, we did! We’ve actually been managing for quite some time now, but it just wasn’t public yet. For a while, we held off on launching Sheesh Management until we had a few clients under our belt, but we ultimately decided that it was better to launch the company sooner than later. We’re excited to keep growing with our first artist Hans Williams and add some more talent to our roster down the line when the time is right for us.

What’s a highlight of starting your own company?

The main highlight of starting your own company is definitely having full creative control over every aspect of the business. It’s also extremely nice to have your own schedule without being on anybody else’s timeline, and getting to choose who you work with.

Anything big planned for the rest of the year?

I’d say the most exciting stuff on tap for the rest of the year is Hans’ headline show in New Orleans and then being an official media partner for AriesWunderworld Festival! Outside of that, we’ll be posting a bunch of new content and game planning for a big year in 2023. Hopefully lots of cool collaborations / partnerships and overall growth for our company in the new year.
