Josephine is Serious about Sunsets

If you shut your eyes and listen to the pretty bossa nova beat, the embrace of airy vocals, and the touch of playful guitar chords, you can feel a blanket of safety and closeness in “ILYSM”.  Venice-based artist and producer Josephine sets the scene for those who can imagine themselves enjoying time with their favourite person unconcerned, unbothered, and unfazed by life’s responsibilities.

“Time with you is timeless”” tells that person how they bring it all to a standstill. There is absolutely nothing to get in the way of the moments they are prepared to share with one another. Josephine sings us multiple reasons to spend the entire day waiting together on an immaculate sunset.

If you know someone who only brings you bliss and peace, I’m sure you would find it impossible to pull away from. The chorus hits like reality tapping on our shoulder, returning us to the bustle of daily living. Can’t it see we’re busy?

Josephine asks the hard-hitting questions only. “How am I supposed to go to bed / When staying up all night with you / Is better than my dreams”? A reality so surreal is hardly one to ignore which is why this question? … felt.

“Noses traces and sunshined / fingers searching for the tan lines”. A ritual seemingly universal. How long will you let your body bake? What are the delightful consequences of being kissed by ultraviolet rays? Josephine is mesmerised by such results and makes it known to the person in admiration.

Before a pause on the beat, the song delivers a moment where words are not needed. The solo guitar envelopes you with charms of the experiences shared between you and your person.

The echoes rounding out the track allow us to float on the surface of the waveless waters, allowing us to calm our energy and witness the promised sunset—adding this to my seaside summer playlist immediately.  “ILYSM” also features psych artist and co-producer Pink Skies and guitarist Max Shashoua.
