Music has an ability to bring individuals together to create their own, personal meaning of a song. Some songs may remind you of your mom or your partner, but what makes music special is an artist's own story. This creates the special bond between an artist and their fans. Riordan (Jordan with an R) has done exactly that.

“Cry for Love” was one of the most highly anticipated singles in the house genre this year, amassing millions of streams across the social media platform, TikTok. Riordan has curated a blissful experience that will have you moving on the dance floor. The continuous on the floor, catchy lyrics, and techno synth wave reminded me of some of my favorite DJ’s: Dombresky, Tom Santa, and Noizu. Riordan on TikTok organically grew a following, backing his success and the support behind “Cry for Love.” The story behind “Cry for Love” began when Riordan started writing the song on a flight, only to finish it on another airplane. After building up continuous hype and staying true to his story with“Cry for Love,” Riordan has curated the euphoric feeling of being above the clouds.

Riordan’s career is only getting started. The majority of his commercial releases debuted within the last two years. His acclaim goes further than his music as he plays a wide variety of DJ sets around the world. He has performed and sat in with some of the world’s biggest DJs: Jax Jones, Wax Motif, and Alex Hawkers. His gigs are mostly focused around the U.K. (Brighton, Bristol, Chichester), but he has recently played sets in Ottawa, Canada at the Riverside festival. Riordan’s development is a story within itself. With social media (TikTok), Riordan has brought us along his journey and his own growth by showing us dj mixes, as well promoting some of his influences, which you can clearly hear in his music.

Riordan’s career is one you must be following. If you’re into the feeling of euphoria, mind-blowing, and groovy music, “Cry for Love” is the track for you. There is a new wave coming with DJs like Fred again… and Riordan, but who will join the duo to create a trio? Let me know on my twitter @jaake_cooper.
