Whookilledkenny’s “Strictly Business” Has You Covered From Trap To R&B

Whookilledkenny is a young Austin native showing out for the entire state of Texas. While you may think the talent comes out of Houston, there is no debate that Kenny has made his mark. His talents are proven in the recent release of his EP Strictly Business, giving us plenty of material to dive into. The EP has five tracks that bring different vibes from R&B, hard-hitting trap, and melodic hip-hop vibes. My favorite thing about Whookilledkenny is the distinction in his voice, I love when an artist has the quality of being recognizable the minute they come on the track.

Similar to the likes of Lil Wayne, you know when Whookilledkenny comes on the beat. His sound and flow are equally unique and display serious talent. To get into the music, let's focus on my favorite track “Pleasure Me,” a prime example of Kenny’s distinctiveness. From the jump, the beat is addictive, has an eerie vibe, and an irresistible thudding bass that you can’t help but bounce along to. Kenny’s flow on this track is quick and he’s spitting bar after bar. The hook is slick and witty, something you can catch onto quickly.

Not only is this my favorite track it’s one of the first to be accompanied by a visual! The music video for “Pleasure Me” looks into Whookilledkenny’s performance style and personality. The visual is simple and Kenny carries the show. We see him in a home studio setting firing off the bars with a certain swagger about him. The way he carries himself and raps with his hand gestures right up to the lens creates a high energy that hypes you up alongside Kenny.

Whookilledkenny has plenty more for you to start listening to. On this particular EP, I'd suggest “Teach Her Game” for R&B lovers, and “GLAD I SPENT” for a slowed soulful vibe. Beyond the EP, Kenny has some staple pieces such as “Rich Rich” and “Finna Charge,” both having reached streams in the millions.
