Rory Ferreira, also known by his current artistic alias R.A.P. Ferreira, is a Nashville-based rapper known for his off-kilter, philosophical brand of hip-hop. Ferreira began his career under his best known alias, Milo, in 2011 with a series of tapes and EPs that would establish himself as a prolific fixture in the underground abstract hip-hop scene, eventually releasing four full-length albums under the moniker. His deadpan delivery and witty rhymes, which were oftentimes riddled with obscure references from literature and internet culture, set him apart from his contemporaries. During this time, he also released experimental hip-hop in the same vein through his Scallops Hotel side project. Ferreira retired Milo in favor of the R.A.P. Ferreira moniker in 2019, ahead of the release of Purple Moonlight Pages, a record that masterfully blended jazz poetry and hip-hop. The project was entirely produced by The Jefferson Park Boys, a trio of producers led by frequent collaborator Kenny Segal.

The Light Emitting Diamond Cutter Scriptures, his third album under the R.A.P. Ferreira name, consists of eleven brief poems that serve as odes to the long list of cities he’s lived in. Rather than calling upon trusted producers like Segal or putting his hand to producing the project himself, Ferreira instead chose to collaborate with a plethora of unknown producers. On lead single “East Nashville,” recent Ruby Yacht signee vast ness. provides a playful, jazz-infused beat for Ferreira’s jaunty bars describing his travels across the North American continent. On penultimate track “Uptown 37,” moody textures and distant guitar tones serve as a backdrop for Ferreira’s existential poetry
